Analysts at Work

Chair: Dr. Bernard Feinberg, M.D.

Meets: 2nd Wednesday of every 3rd month

The analyst-at-work study group is modeled on the ocassional section in the International Journal of Psychoanalysis by that name. The purpose is to consider process material from the members' psychoanalytic and psychotherapy work. Our goal is to think more deeply about process material than is usually possible in either continuous case conference or at Society meetings. One or two designated discussants present their thoughts on the process material. The discussion is then open to everyone. We hope to weave our thoughts together to illuminate the material under discussion, and to learn about psychoanalytic technique.

Lacan Study Group

Chair: Todd Dean, M.D

Meets: Monthy

The Lacan study group, chaired by Todd Dean, M.D., is open to analysts, therapists, and academic colleagues. The group is devoted to studying the work of Jacques Lacan and his students and associates. The group is currently studying Lacan's second seminar. For more information, contact Dr. Dean at (314) 644-6884 or iosoluno@earthlink.net.

The St. Louis Lacan Study Group will have its first meeting of 2007 on Jan. 12 at Wild Oats at noon. We will be reading two early papers of Lacan's from his Ecrits, "The Mirror Stage" and "Aggression in Psychoanalysis". For anyone curious to learn more about Lacan's thinking, this is a great opportunity to begin to look at it, because all his theories develop out of his work on the mirror stage. CME credits should also be available for the coming year, if one needs further incentive to visit the group. Interested parties please call Todd Dean at 644-6884.
